Climate activists blocked the main entrances to the Swedish Parliament

In the press release made by activists, it was stated that the blockade was made to "make visible that people are dying and being injured today as a result of climate disasters, wars and the unequal distribution of resources."

Greta Thunberg believes the blockade is due to a "planetary emergency." She believes that all countries have a responsibility for the climate, and so do elected politicians in Sweden.

"We see it as our democratic obligation as citizens of a democracy when elected officials act in ways that directly harm and put people's safety and lives at risk," Greta Thunberg said.
